or Which Graphs Does Every Edge Belong to Exactly Two Chordless Cycles?

چکیده
A graph is 2-cycled if each edge is contained in exactly two of its chordless cycles. The 2-cycled graphs arise in connection with the study of balanced signing of graphs and matrices. The concept of balance of a f0;+1; 1gmatrix or a signed bipartite graph has been studied by Truemper and by Conforti et al. The concept of -balance is a generalization introduced by Truemper. Truemper exhibits a family F of planar graphs such that a graph G can be signed to be -balanced if and only if each induced subgraph of G in F can. We show here that the graphs in F are exactly the 2-connected 2-cycled graphs.

A chord of a path $P$ is an edge joining two non-adjacent vertices of $P$. A path $P$ is called a monophonic path if it is a chordless path. A longest $x-y$ monophonic path is called an $x-y$ detour monophonic path. A detour monophonic graphoidal cover of a graph $G$ is a collection $psi_{dm}$ of detour monophonic paths in $G$ such that every vertex of $G$ is an internal vertex of at most on...
متن کاملGraphs of Edge-Intersecting Non-splitting Paths in a Tree: Towards Hole Representations - (Extended Abstract)
Given a tree and a set P of non-trivial simple paths on it, Vpt(P) is the VPT graph (i.e. the vertex intersection graph) of P, and Ept(P) is the EPT graph (i.e. the edge intersection graph) of the paths P of the tree T . These graphs have been extensively studied in the literature. Given two (edge) intersecting paths in a graph, their split vertices is the set of vertices having degree at least...
متن کاملGenerating weakly triangulated graphs
We show that a graph is weakly triangulated, or weakly chordal, if and only if it can be generated by starting with a graph with no edges, and repeatedly adding an edge, so that the new edge is not the middle edge of any chordless path with four vertices. This is a corollary of results due to Sritharan and Spinrad, and Hayward, Hoo ang and Maaray, and a natural analogue of a theorem due to Fulk...
متن کاملDistinct edge geodetic decomposition in graphs
Let G=(V,E) be a simple connected graph of order p and size q. A decomposition of a graph G is a collection π of edge-disjoint subgraphs G_1,G_2,…,G_n of G such that every edge of G belongs to exactly one G_i,(1≤i ≤n). The decomposition 〖π={G〗_1,G_2,…,G_n} of a connected graph G is said to be a distinct edge geodetic decomposition if g_1 (G_i )≠g_1 (G_j ),(1≤i≠j≤n). The maximum cardinality of π...
متن کاملAn Efficient Algorithm for Enumerating Chordless Cycles and Chordless Paths
A chordless cycle (induced cycle) C of a graph is a cycle without any chord, meaning that there is no edge outside the cycle connecting two vertices of the cycle. A chordless path is defined similarly. In this paper, we consider the problems of enumerating chordless cycles/paths of a given graph G = (V,E), and propose algorithms taking O(|E|) time for each chordless cycle/path. In the existing ...
